for me bro, since you mentioned that it'll also be a carry weapon, i would go for the .45. even if it's just a single stack (ammo cap of 7-8 rds), if you will gain the necessary skills to make good shot placements, then it will serve you well. you might not even need a back up mag when carrying. there are other factors to consider like ammo capacity and muzzle flip. but constant practice (shot placement and mag change) will still lead you to consider a single stack .45. but that's just me. others may have other views.
